Social Nature is hiring a

Product Manager, B2C

Who We Are

At Social Nature, we believe change starts in the shopping basket. Changing consumer behavior is hard, but we know that trial is the #1 path to purchase. And so we’ve built a best-in-class product sampling platform that helps people try something that’s better for them and the planet - on their next shopping trip.

Over the last 6 years, we’ve organically grown our community to over 750,000 members and have worked with over 500 natural food and health brands across North America largely through client referrals and industry partnerships. You can learn more about our product sampling solution and client success stories here.

We’re currently a team of 25 changemakers growing to 40 in 2022. We have an entrepreneurial culture that values making it happen, focusing on impact, championing the customer, winning together, keeping it real, and owning our craft.

We recently raised a round of growth financing from mission-aligned investors including Active Impact Investments (climate change VC), the co-founder of VEGA (#1 plant-based protein brand), and the co-founder of Shopify (#1 e-commerce platform for emerging brands) so that we can accelerate our impact.

We’re not stopping until every CPG brand in the world is launching their healthy and sustainable products on Social Nature so that more people can #trynatural.

The Purpose of the Role

We’re looking for a growth-minded product manager that will help more of our users make the switch to products that are better for them and the planet.

Do you want to work on a product that aims to change consumer habits so that people can live healthier and more sustainable lives? Are you passionate about identifying and solving user problems? Have you worked on high-growth consumer-facing apps before? Do you have a track record of launching successful product features that add significant value to the user experience? Can you see the big picture while maintaining the focus on the details? Then the Product Manager role at Social Nature could be a great fit for you.

As a Product Manager at Social Nature, you will work cross-functionally to guide user features from conception to launch. You’ll be influencing the product strategy and its execution, building robust roadmaps, and launching features that improve the user experience so that more people can make the switch to better products on their next shopping trip.

You will work closely with product designers, a data analyst, and software engineers, and will report to the Director of Product Management. Your input, ideas, and results will make a big difference in our growing company.

Our product and engineering team is a distributed team so you’ll have the option to work remotely or from our headquarters in Vancouver, BC, Canada. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

What you will be doing:

  • Own the product roadmap and feature outcomes within your product domain - help our users achieve their goal of making the switch to products that are better for them and the planet on their next shopping trip.
  • Ensure the user journey from adoption (sign-up), to activation, and retention is constantly optimized.
  • Understand where users are getting stuck, and how we can ensure the highest engagement and adoption rates.
  • Dig into data to understand user behaviors and identify opportunities for platform improvements.
  • Work across departments to capture business inputs and define product requirements.
  • Define what success looks like, how it will be measured, and how it will impact company-wide goals and strategies.
  • Prioritize and validate product ideas by running rapid experiments and using learnings to inform product decisions.
  • Write product specifications and discuss them with designers and our engineering team.
  • Partner with designers to surface customer and product insights, while they advise you in areas of usability and customer research.

What you will need to succeed in this role:

  • 4+ years of prior experience in a Product Management and/or Product Marketing role.
  • You have worked with fast-growing B2C products in the past, ideally e-commerce or online communities
  • Comfortable navigating product challenges in a fast-paced environment, while working cross-functionally within a collaborative culture.
  • Data-minded whenever possible: you deeply understand how your products work and how to measure long-term impact. You know every step of the funnel. You can design, run, and interpret experiments and A/B tests, and probably know a bit of SQL. You understand the value of both quantitative and qualitative data and how to interpret it into actionable insights.
  • Think big and small: Build a portfolio of experiments and larger features. You've shipped something BIG over many increments and have experienced revisiting and managing the process post-release. You are as comfortable whiteboarding a completely new experience as you are optimizing an existing flow and know when to do which.
  • Impeccable follow-through: You say what you’ll do, and do what you say. You hold your team to this standard. You don’t let details slip.
  • As an active and present listener, you build consensus by default, but you can also drive hard decisions when needed. You push the pace. You take the blame and pass on praise. People love working with you. Communication as an art form: You are clear and effective
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to guide the team through product development processes.
  • Passion and understanding of user experience design fundamentals and best practices.
  • Comfortable talking about technology with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
