Avalara’s Analytics & Insights team is looking for an experienced analyst to provide insights and recommendations that will help us optimize our international marketing and sales funnel. You’ll have the opportunity to design processes and reporting models and frameworks that improve acquisition rates and decrease friction of moving prospects and customers through the funnel, positively impacting both revenue outcomes and the prospect and customer experiences. Partnering with and providing insights to a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders across geographies, you’ll develop deep subject matter expertise, becoming the go-to resource for uncovering insights and making recommendations to implement solutions that allow our international teams to scale and operate more effectively. In short, you’ll be instrumental in driving campaign and operational efficiency in our international organization through both tactical and strategic work.

Please note: This role will be part of our Analytics & Insights team based in North America but will work closely with our international teams. Applicants must be willing to work across multiple time zonesprimarily US Pacific Time Zone and Greenwich Mean Time–and preference is for candidates based in US Eastern Time Zone. Remote allowed.

International Sales & Marketing Analyst

  • Collaborate and build credibility with internal business teams, staying up-to-date on new initiatives and working to understand their data and reporting needs while managing expectations and providing guidance on best practices
  • Create automated reports and dashboards that allow business owners greater ability to optimize performance of key programs, initiatives, and workflows, helping to develop new KPIs and supporting metrics as necessary
  • Prepare presentations that summarize key findings tailored to international sales and marketing teams, and develop recommendations for implementation and next steps
  • Manage new reporting requests or enhancements, including documenting and validating requirements, prioritizing work with key stakeholders, collaborating with internal teams to update or create new data sources, and delivering final output (e.g. dashboard) with end-user training
  • Formulate and manage roadmaps to support growth and efficiency of international teams, helping to develop new KPIs and supporting metrics as necessary
  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate and/or optimize manual processes and reporting by partnering with operations stakeholders
  • Drive changes in process, data structures, and metrics to standardize across geographies wherever possible
  • Be willing to work across time zones

Qualifications

  • Five or more years in an analyst role in sales or marketing, preferably for SaaS/tech company
  • Two or more years building data visualizations in Tableau in non-academic/internship setting (Intermediate to advanced proficiency required; Tableau certification and/or Tableau Public profile preferred)
  • Experience with Salesforce and Salesforce workflows and reporting concepts
  • Strong knowledge of database management concepts
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
  • Rigorous attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement
  • Proven track record of working with marketing and sales data from disparate sources and learning or managing new systems/platforms/tools
  • Experience providing insights and recommendations that align to operational and strategic objectives
  • Ability to champion change and implement change management practices
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, specifically the ability to translate non-technical stakeholder requirements into effective and actionable dashboards and visualizations
  • Experience managing and prioritizing projects of varying size and complexity with a focus on both efficiency and quality
  • Ability to rationalize when directional insights are sufficient vs when wholly accurate data is required for analysis
  • Experience presenting to wide range of audiences, from individual contributor to executive-level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms such as Eloqua
  • Experience with web analytics platform such as Adobe Analytics
  • Experience with sales automation/sales engagement platforms such as Outreach
  • Experience using Python and/or R
  • Strong grasp of statistical concepts and prediction modeling
