Transitioning to a low-carbon energy system to meet the 2050 net zero target is one of the most complex and important challenges we have ever faced, and the introduction of new and exciting services & products will be super important in helping underpin this transition.
As the demand for our expertise and services continues to grow, we have a new opportunity for a service designer with a real passion for user centred design to work on energy service propositions and user experiences for our clients.
A creative problem solver with strong capabilities in idea generation, conceptual thinking and the ability to face complex challenges and find solutions, you will have a proven portfolio of service design success, you will enjoy and be effective working on a wide range of collaborative agile projects, working closely with user researchers & technical specialists to ultimately design and prototype great services & experiences.
You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of key design tools and techniques such as service blueprints, customer journey maps, user personas, empathy mapping and design sprints which you can apply to identify and turn often complex requirements into effective user centred systems that deliver compelling experiences. You will also be pleased to hear that your support will be needed to identify and introduce new techniques and tools that continue to enhance the Catapult’s growing design capability.
It goes without saying that you understand the value of research to validate service design assumptions and recognise its ongoing importance in terms of the refinement and improvement of those designs. You will also be adept at communicating design decisions to clients in a creative and engaging way that really show’s off the value of user-centred design.
So, if you are a stupendous service designer, motivated to make an impact in the decarbonisation space and would love the chance to apply your expertise on meaningful impactful projects and programmes that are focused on the energy transition and the UK’s drive to hit Net Zero, then look no further - you may have just discovered the opportunity you were looking for.
So, if you would like to make a real difference, love a challenge, excited by the opportunity to do worthwhile work & finally like the idea of working with a diverse group of people who are passionate about the decarbonisation challenge, you best apply.
During lockdown, we have been working remotely and as we begin to focus more on the future, we intend to embrace a new refreshing way to utilise our office in Birmingham City Centre . As a consequence we are developing a flexible approach to the workplace , which ensures we keep some of the benefits of home working whilst enabling the Catapult to operate efficiently, this hybrid way of working may result in the majority of us working from home for a good chunk of the time, merging the best bits of both office and home working.
