Eight Bit Studios is hiring a

Digital Product Designer

About Us:

At Eight Bit Studios, we specialize in combining User Experience, Design and Development in fun new ways. Our remote team is made up of skilled UX Strategists, Digital Product Designers, Developers, Project Managers, Account & Sales Managers and QA Analysts who care about partnering with our clients to deliver people-centered, fun and beautiful mobile and web products that we can all take pride in.

On our Experience Design Team, our Digital Product Designers transform complex business challenges into usable, impactful, inclusive products for mobile and web. We are looking for an open minded innovator who is confident in taking the lead on UI design efforts and user experience - taking it from a high level vision all the way through to execution - to join us in our work. We go all-in and own the visual design, UI, prototypes and the delivery of fully designed products that will make people feel good.

About you:

At your core you have a passion for design, a curiosity for how the world works, and a holistic understanding of what makes the best experiences the best. You have a gut level understanding of the ‘why’ behind what makes a design good or bad and are able to confidently think through user problems, find reasonable solutions, mock them up in detail, and then collaborate with the team to build them.

In this role, you will bring your full toolkit of design expertise including user research, interaction design, branding, and visual design as you work across multiple client projects and teams at the same time. You will need to feel confident working independently, but also like feedback and naturally do your best work when you are collaborating with the team.

Here's what you'll need for the role:

  • 4+ years experience as a digital designer working in cross-disciplinary teams and playing a lead role on projects from start to finish, ideally with cross-platform experience (responsive web, native mobile apps, etc).
  • A strong familiarity with various process methodologies - discovery, design sprints, and agile dev sprints are all in play here.
  • A real-deal history of designing native mobile apps from concepts, through prototyping and collaborating with developers to bring your designs to life.
  • The chops to mockup animated interfaces using Principle, After Effects, or similar motion tools.
  • An understanding of the technical limitations and possibilities behind your decisions and the tools needed to communicate your ideas to the team.
  • The ability to connect with, present to, and work comfortably alongside our client partners.
  • The know-how to build a brand from the ground up, and represent it via the design principles that guide the interface design of an app (brand systems, style guides, marketing materials, websites, etc).
  • The ability to work in deep detail; anticipating, designing, and explaining edge cases and variations, as well as creating and extending design systems.

And here’s why people love working at Eight Bit:

We recognize that the key to our ability to deliver on great digital products is tied to creating an inclusive environment where people can do their best work. At Eight Bit, we care a great deal about balancing our work and life, so our people-first employee package for full time employees includes competitive compensation and healthcare benefits, generous vacation time, holiday office closures, paid parental leave, and flexible (that means parent & remote learning friendly) work schedules, along with fun company activities and a supportive work environment - even over Zoom.
