Possible is looking to welcome a full-time Art Director to the team. We are looking for you to support the creative excellence of many major projects and productions. To be successful in this role, you'll work collaboratively with our team of producers and artists to efficiently manage and deliver groundbreaking projects for our unique industry.

You will be responsible for providing direction and oversight for the visual design and aesthetic approach of our varied client projects. You will have a deeply considered and unique point of view on different creative mediums, but with a particular focus on motion design and CG art. You will ensure the work being produced effectively embodies the established look and feel of a project in addition to meeting the needs of the client. You will collaborate with Creative Directors and Producers to support the creative vision of projects and direct the larger art team toward highly polished design and animation in service of visual spectacles, engaging storytelling, and compelling experiences.

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Develop creative concepts alongside the Creative Directors, Producers, and Designers on the team
  • Help build both internal and external briefs that clearly communicate the visual identity of projects
  • Provide guidance via references, mood boards, style frames, or other visual tools so that artists on the team are able to effectively produce high polish 2D and 3D design and animation
  • Establish visual design principles and techniques for artists to follow
  • Give constructive feedback to artists to help them better achieve the creative goals of our projects
  • Supervise and drive projects from beginning to end in conjunction with Producers
  • Manage multiple projects, self-manage priorities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Problem solve (both alone and in groups), evaluate challenges, and work collaboratively with the larger production and art teams to deliver projects
  • Attend forecast meetings to evaluate schedules and resources based on daily and weekly needs
  • Work with producers to ensure creative goals are clear, and that art team schedules can be aligned to achieve the creative ambition of projects on their prescribed timelines
  • Stay current with design trends, techniques, and processes
  • Coherently present creative to the internal team, clients, and partners

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience working in visual design for the fields of live production, film, commercial, and/or games as either a Senior Artist, Designer, or similar role

AND

  • 2+ years of experience working in visual design for the fields of live production, film, commercial, and/or games as either an Art Director or similar role
  • A portfolio showcasing polished, well-considered design created in either a lead or senior role
  • Expert knowledge of designing for live, broadcast, or commercial mediums, and working within technical pipelines for 2D and 3D motion design, VFX, and/or animation projects
  • Expert knowledge of industry standard 3D software such as Cinema 4D, Houdini, Maya, and/or Unreal.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, InDesign, etc.)
  • Dynamic and confident presentation skills to pitch ideas clearly and effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced creative environment and adapt quickly to changes in direction depending on the shifting needs of the production
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve efficiently, intelligently, and with positivity
  • High attention to detail and a willingness to go the extra mile
  • Extraordinarily well organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Resourceful and forward thinking
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels/across all departments
  • Execute discretion when working with high level clients and sensitive information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of supplementary programs such as Substance Designer, ZBrush, Vectorworks, Touch Designer, Notch, etc. a plus
  • Experience in leading design across multiple art styles
  • Experience working with render farm pipelines
  • Knowledge of game development and/or mixed reality including art production processes (both 2D and 3D) and technical implementation

LOCATION

Ideally, this role is based from either our Los Angeles or New York City studios. However, we would consider remote for the right candidate.
