SAP NS2 Basis and Database IT Manager-Virtual

Location: Virtual – USA

A SAP Basis and Database IT Manager is responsible for managing a team of SAP Basis and database administrators, working in a mixed Windows and Unix cloud environment. The professional leads and oversees the team or SAP Basis and database professionals and that work across the Service Delivery Lifecycle to analyze, design, build, test, implement and/or maintain multiple system components or applications. The individual in this position must have strong technical knowledge of SAP systems and databases.

The individual is expected to provide technical guidance, strategy and direction on SAP and database Technical designs , implementations and deployments of SAP solutions on a cloud infrastructure, to achieve defined business goals. Below are some of the responsibilities that come under the job purview of this individual and his/her team –

  • Manage technical architecture analysis, design, build, test and deploy for SAP systems
  • Advise on technical approach for all systems integrating to SAP and manage 3rd party dependencies related to SAP environment
  • System landscape design and management experience in operations and project scenarios
  • Plan and manage SAP systems maintenance schedule
  • Involved in planning and testing of the DR
  • Deep understanding of SAP best practice on Backup and Recovery
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Implementation, upgrade and support of the latest SAP systems versions, running on Windows/Linux OS and HANA/Sybase/Oracle/SQL Server DBs.
  • Communicate project status, issues and risks timely to all stakeholders, cross-functional teams and managers.
  • Help manage Change Control, Issues and Risks to ensure timely implementation of projects, to include carrying out risk assessments, identifying project roadblocks, and driving mitigations / solutions
  • Work with technical and non-technical teams, including Customer Support, Professional Services, Product Management, Engineering, and QA teams for efficient and effective resolution of project issues and escalations
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of standards, processes, and best practices
  • Strong writing, mentoring, decision making, and communication skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear concise and tactful communication with senior executive management, clients, peers and team members
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the team. Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables to the team; review quality of work and manage integration of team members’ work.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple organizations utilizing strong influencing skills coupled with technology expertise for multiple capabilities. This includes strong problem solving, cross functional leadership, and conflict resolution
  • Provide IT Management level oversight of day-to-day IT manage service activities:
    • Evaluate service quality and IT process improvements
    • IT process control monitoring
    • Monitor service levels, resolve risks/issues, manage escalation-to-resolution

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 12+ years of experience or Master’s Degree, plus 7 years of experience.
  • SAP Basis experience and Understanding of SAP best practice
  • Experience working with multiple databases e.g. HANA, Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server, MaxDB, PostGres
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • A high standard for work ethic and quality is required
  • Experience working with highly technical teams
  • Experience with Atlassian’s JIRA and Confluence is preferred.
  • Clear understanding of business process requirements as well as cloud technical requirements for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS technologies
  • Strong analytical as well as organizational skills with an ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to manage and shift priorities quickly and effectively when needed.
  • Contributes independently, resolves complex issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to deliver high-quality deliverables.
  • Contributes actively to build common ground for cooperation
