The Finance team supports all areas of the business, from key strategic decisions to day-to-day operations. We are looking for a Head of Accounting excited to play a major role in the financial evolution of Bestow. You will work closely with the CFO, Controller and alongside the founders, leading accounting excellence through robust analytics, automation and process improvement.

We ideally would like this person located in Dallas/Austin, TX but are open to Remote for the right candidate.


  • Drive process improvement and efficiency to increase the timeliness and accuracy of the financials, that supports the development of our long-term vision and strategy.
  • Support the internal and external audit relationships as well as requests for information and clarification from external partners and State regulators.
  • Strive for a high level of documentation over processes, risks and controls as the Company continues to scale.
  • Maintain strong company and sector expertise. Maintain current knowledge on emerging market trends, while sharing knowledge with the broader team.
  • Conduct research and analysis of operational effectiveness and business processes.
  • Align departmental goals, processes and resource allocation with Bestow’s organizational strategy.
  • Support business development led by Business Line leaders including conducting research and contributing strategy to presentations and proposals. Analyze the viability of various opportunities from a financial accounting perspective.
  • Assist with presentations for investors, corporate communications, and marketing initiatives.
  • Assess data and utilize tools/applications to improve the efficiency and operating effectiveness of processes and team assignments.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and NAIC SSAP (STAT) and the accounting basis differences, as well as tax related concepts.


  • 10+ years of professional experience, preferably in public accounting and/or the insurance industry with exposure and oversight of the monthly/quarterly close.
  • 3+ years experience leading a team both through processes and performance development.
  • Superior financial and investment analysis capabilities, including ability to utilize systems and applications to identify and communicate the drivers of variances to prior and plan. First-principles approach to understanding complex concepts.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Outstanding communicator with ability to influence and drive change.
  • Collaborative style and viewed as a strong business partner, both efficient and consistently adding value.
  • Continuously strive to improve the Financial Accounting and Reporting function; ensure best in class practices are in place.
  • Solicit and accept feedback, criticism, and alternative points of view.
  • Intellectually curious and demonstrated self-starter.
  • Undergraduate degree required.


  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus. CPA/CA/CIA credentials preferred
